Bernard Duckworth

Bernard Duckworth

Bernard (Bernie) Duckworth is the volunteer Archivist for the Australian Gliding Museum.

In his role, Bernie has created an extensive catalogue of the Museum’s collection of 70 gliders, construction plans, photos, films, videos, magazines, newsletters and other archival material.

The catalogue, which is the result of many years of dedicated effort, is an essential and invaluable record of Australia’s gliding history and has been included in the Victorian Museum and Galleries state-wide collection of digital archives.

With his in-depth knowledge of the Museum collection, Bernie also publishes the Museum’s Newsletter with meticulously researched articles which are very much appreciated by vintage glider enthusiasts across Australia and internationally.

Consequently, Bernie is frequently contacted by glider enthusiasts for information and assistance concerning the Museum’s collection.

Bernie is a quiet, modest and unassuming individual who has worked very diligently amongst the archives without seeking recognition and is most deserving of a VSA Living Treasure award.
