YouthGlide Victoria aims to provide a network opportunity for Victorian Juniors of all levels of flying skills and qualifications and will foster the development of juniors for Air Experience Instructors, Level 1 instructors and introductory airworthiness skills.  YouthGlide particularly aims to capture the imagination of junior pilots from 14 to 18 who mostly need parental involvement and close support from instructors and clubs.

YouthGlide will promote the concept of holding ‘Mini-Camps’ to provide an opportunity to support existing members and helping them stay actively involved in the sport. Mini-Camps will also offer an opportunity to introduce potential new members to our sport at gliding sites around the state and will aim to build positive relationships with host Clubs.

In line with our mission, the Victorian Soaring Association (VSA) can offer scholarships to encourage young people to take up gliding, either as a pathway to a career in aviation or for enjoyment of a unique sport.

This year, the VSA will provide 4 scholarships. We have introduced a President’s scholarship valued at $1500 and three general scholarships valued at $1000 each to be awarded annually. The awarding of the scholarships will be based on the current VSA Gliding Vic/Tas YouthGlide scholarship criteria already in place.

Applications are now sought for the 2022 VSA YouthGlide Gliding Scholarships, for the period 1 January 2022 to 31 January 2023.

The scholarships will be open to applicants who have reached the age of 15 years by 30th November, 2021 and who will be no older than 26 years by 31st January 2023.

Australian Junior Gliding Club

The Australian Junior Gliding Club (AJGC) was formed in 2007 by a group of junior pilots who wanted a way of connecting juniors throughout the country. The main aim of the club is to assist and encourage junior pilots in Australia. This can mean anything from helping someone with their initial training to providing assistance to the Australian team heading out to the Junior Worlds.
